These Are the Places You Need to See in Pittsburgh

If you are planning a trip to Pittsburgh, there are definitely some places and attractions that you should put at the top of your list. Whether you are visiting for a day or a week, there are standout places that you absolutely cannot miss.

Keeping your own interests in mind, you can plan your agenda for your visit to Pittsburgh accordingly. If time allows, be sure to check out as many of these places in Pittsburgh as you can:

Oakland

While Downtown Pittsburgh is home to the business district of the city, the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh is home to many of the sites and attractions that you were probably hoping to see in Pittsburgh, making this place a can’t miss stop in the city.

In Oakland, you can check out the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. You can also see Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Schenley Park, and so much more. Oakland is the place to be if you want to see many of the famous attractions in the Steel City.

Point State Park

If you do want to head Downtown to take in all of the city’s bridges and the iconic three rivers, head to Point State Park. Point State Park is located where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the Ohio River. This confluence of three rivers is one of the major things the city is known for.

When you visit the “Golden Triangle” where the rivers meet, be sure to check out the amazing fountain at Point State Park. If you are interested in history, you can also see the remains of Pittsburgh’s two oldest structures in Point State Park: Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne. You can also check out the nearby Fort Pitt Museum.

Duquesne Incline

If you want to see those iconic views of the city, looking down on all of the rivers and yellow bridges, you will need to head to Mount Washington to check out the Duquesne Incline. At the top of the incline, you can see photos and displays of the history of the incline.

And of course, you can actually take a ride on the funicular railway. Views from the cars cannot be beat, so be sure to take tons of photos. After you return to the top of the incline, you can check out the many amazing restaurants in Mount Washington.
